The captain told the crew to get below deck so the wind and waves wouldn't put any lives at risk. The sails were tied down, the mast locked, and hatches bared. Everyone was safer in the ships womb. Yet one foolish man, one who often turns a deaf ear to authority and safety remained up top.
Anteel was balanced barefoot amid-ship being pummeled by heavy rain and tearing winds. His arms and legs bound in tight wool. The two swords in his hands were also wrapped in thick heavy layers of wool and burlap. The wet fabric pulling each down with extra pounds of weight. His friends sought guidance in their books. They looked to history. They looked to their spells. They looked to tradition, and they looked to their gods. He looked simply to the sea, and to his blades. Through them he found himself, and through him they moved with a dark beauty. In chaos he danced.
Anteel- Journal Entry Two
The sea. It seems I may have found a new friend in this endless blue world. All this time I have been running, hiding, and lying from city to city, to avoid those that choose to pursue me. All this time there has been a whole new world for me to take refuge in. A world of wood and waves. Out here I am still Anteel. Out here there are no laws or judgments to hold me higher and lower than any other man. Out here we all simply survive and try not to fall in. I feel very at peace in this knowledge.
Perhaps its just the water itself that gives me this feeling of safety. When it is calm and smooth as glass, It is like I can see forever. When it is angry and tearing with turmoil I can do not but stare in awe at its terrible dance. Looking at it I can feel it entering me. I am the water. I will be calm and reflective. Without warning I will enter my dance of death, unpredictable and terrible. I will dance like water. I will perfect this, and strive to learn the true steps to the song my blades sing.
